Life After Football

Fashion never stops. It comes at us all week via lookbooks, PR emails and sometimes just shop windows. But every Friday, we like to slow things down and just pick out one highlight from the week. This is Fashion Friday.

Own Fan Club have hit the spot once again, as the football-inspired brand has released a cracker of a collection ahead of the summer. Meet the 'Post Season' range.

With a knack for taking a slightly ironic, satirical look at football, Own Fan Club have created a series or two of funny football drops, often with some cultural references to keep you on your toes. This time around, though, the brand has simply put two and two together with their football influence meeting a summer trend. It's Hawaiian football jerseys.

The likes of BVB, Juventus, Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea have all had iconic kits from the past reimagined as the perfect holiday-bound or pool-side attire. Button up shirts have been emblazoned with all of the team emblems, kit manufacturers and button-interrupted sponsors in this quirky latest release from the Londoners.

With the colour scheme of the Hawaiian patterns loosely fitting the team in question - Liverpool's Candy shirt of 1990 in red with white trims and United's infamous yellow and green of '93 being an examples of this - there's a peculiar sense of nostalgia to these shirts. You feel like you've seen them before and a seasoned football fan might even be able to tell you who wore such a shirt. Except, unless your mind is confusing seeing Gianfranco Zola on a football pitch with seeing him poolside catching some rays, you are mistaken.

People have been going mad for the shirts with features on the likes of Hypebeast and SoccerBible being written about them and, the original line-up as pictured in a slightly eerily empty outdoor swimming pool setting, has already sold out.

But don't fret, Own Fan Club have announced that they will be reprinting the collection again for pop-ups in London and for their own online store. So don't miss out a second time.

Hawaiian football shirts; our pick for this Fashion Friday.
