Iceland, the people’s champions on Euro 2016 after their underdog antics and Viking chanting, are on the brink of their first ever World Cup.
Considering how well they performed back in France, knocking out no lesser opponent than England in the quarter-finals, it is perhaps no surprise that they made it to Russia this summer. Yet, this is their first-ever appearance at the World Cup Finals and, as this collection from native brand, 66°North shows, they’ve been waiting since 1947.
With an obvious 90s influence, there’s some really special pieces in the offering here. A two-piece tracksuit looks like one of the highlights, with a quintessentially fashionable sporty look the result of pairing the respective jacket and track pants. Detailing down the side of the legs and sleeves makes for a two-piece that screams World Cup 94, yet, as we know, they didn’t have the pleasure of appearing on the world’s biggest stage until now.
A retro jersey with the brand’s logo providing the role of the kit manufacturer is another solid addition to a collection that also envelopes some smart graphic t-shirts, perfect for the summer.
You don’t need to be an Iceland fan to appreciate this capsule drop from 66°North, but if the Viking chant is in full force once more, a lot of neutrals will be backing them in Russia. And only four weeks to go!
