In the final council meeting of 2018 in New York City, some history was made as a 48-0 vote will see two hip-hop legends paid homage to by their hometown.

Both Notorious B.I.G and Wu-Tang Clan are to be honoured with place names named after them, respective to where once lived in the city. The late Biggie Smalls' block, St James' Place, is to be co-named as Christopher Wallace Way, as a means of remembering the man behind the legendary rapper.

As for the Wu, locals and visitors to BYC can look forward to visiting the Wu-Tang Clan District. The area will be located at the southeast of Staten Island’s Vanderbilt Avenue and Targee Street, where the hip-hop crew was based. A great tribute to the influence on culture that 90s hip-hop has had on the city.
